I went to a lot of restaurants in Alameda and shot a couple of 1400's specials for Alameda Restaurant Week. I loved the warmth and classic atmosphere, and these are the coolest dishes I saw.
We came by to try their Restaurant Week menu. They also do nightly specials: $25 for a rotating main entrée and choice of side salad or soup. The staff was so kind and hospitable. Restrooms were nice and clean, also. We felt very comfortable here. It looks like they have a pool table in the back, but it's currently decommissioned. Unfortunately, the food was rather one-dimensional in flavor and a bad/rotten mussel I found only halfway through my cioppino got me sick. I was pleasantly surprised at 1400 bar & grill. The outside/ inside decor looks like it could use an update, so I wasn’t expecting much from the food/ service. We decided to try this place out because of Alameda’s Restaurant week and they had the most appealing fixed menu. We ended up ordering from the menu and not going pre-fixed. I ordered the prime rib sandwich with fries and my boyfriend ordered the pulled pork sliders and poutine fries. The food was really good!
