I recently rented a mini excavator from this dealership and was disappointed by the lack of adherence to basic safety standards. When the machine was loaded onto my trailer, the boom was not secured at all. As a CDL holder, I pointed out that per FMCSA §393.130, heavy equipment must be properly secured, including separate securement for the boom to prevent movement during transit. I rented a Mini Excavator this weekend. The yard staff loaded it without tying down the boom—at all. I hold a CDL and reminded them that federal law (FMCSA §393.130) requires heavy equipment to be secured and the boom must be separately secured to prevent movement. The loader gave me attitude for pointing this out and reluctantly went to get a chain and binder. When I returned the machine, I was charged a $150 wash fee—likely in retaliation.
