Definitely try the noodles Normally I don't like "westernized" noodle restaurants, but Zao Noodle is pretty good. Try the rice noodles and the Thai ice tea. Their fresh spring rolls are great too. Not sure about the fried tofu...
Yummy noodles Lunching at Zao is a treat -- great selection, very tasty soups and noodles, all very affordable. The portions are big, so I have to refrain myself from pigging out. Service is fast and friendly.
Good, but bland Thai food – I like Zao for lunch, but I agree it's not the greatest Thai food around. I don't really like spicy food, so Zao is good for people who perfer milder Thai. I love the pad thai and the thai iced tea is great. The best part used to be the magic fish at the end that would tell your fortune, but the past couple of times I've gone they didn't give them to us.
good food and a great price We go here on date nights about twice a month. the service is quick and friendly. Even when they occasionally screw things up --- which every restaurant does -- they make it right quickly.
Zao Noodle Bar Zao offers a good selection of noodle dishes and fresh vegetable dishes. The soupy dishes are available in a mushroom broth which is quite delicious. Zao used to offer miso broth but discontinued this.
Zao's Noodle Bar, Top Notch Zao's is small, but their food is like no other. Very fresh, always healthy, and so very good. They have low carb items to offer as well. Waiters are friendly, they have take out, they offer wine and beer, and their food is different, with a healthy twist but everything is tasty, not like some healthy food. Has sort of a Thai food bent, however it is more than that; probably doesn't fit into a category except many of the dishes do have noodles, rice and other. Veggies always fresh. Soup is superb.... read more
service and food The food is fresh, plentiful and the service is good. The prices are a little high but worth it. Try their tofu fries. Unique and tasty. Has a university like atmosphere.
Something's wrong with this Zao – I always get the Veggie Pho at the Zao up in the city, but when I ordered in Palo Alto, it came out blech -- like hot tap water and soy sauce. I can't recommend this Zao, but the one off Fillmore is still tasty.
Bleh – I ordered the Vegetarian Pho and it was entirly lacking in flavor. In addition the Service was slow and impolite. I was very disappointed.
