I was referred to him by a friend. I liked him at first when I was able to have sessions in his office, but as we got into the pandemic and were limited to online sessions he became quirkier about scheduling and visibly distracted in our sessions. At first I gave him slack because we were all dealing with the pandemic, but after he stopped returning my calls altogether I started taking it personally. This psychologist is inconsistent returning phone calls and scheduling appointments. When my teenage child needed help, he did not respond.
Initially I met Dr. Gary Zachariah for an my child. He had come highly recommended by an APRN whom I knew very well. I was so impressed with him that I began having sessions. He is a great listener, empathetic and a wonderful counselor. Many times I faced some highly emotional situations, and Dr. Zachariah was there to help me. He made time for me to call him early in the morning when I was facing several difficult major surgeries. I saw him in West Hartford. He is very compassionate.
Dr. Zachariah pretty much saved my life. After many years of psychotherapy elsewhere, once under Dr. Zachariah's care, I discovered what real, deep therapy truly is in a matter of 4 months.
