I came to the shelter in desperation. I am severely disabled. Some of the staff were kind and caring but my advocate did not help me at all. By my third week I had pushed my body so hard trying to get help on my own that I became completely bedridden again. I spent 3 days barely able to go to the bathroom OR eat. Extremely disappointed and disgusted. You need to have more compassionate people answering your phones. Called yesterday looking for help regarding ppo and domestic violence. Started to explain the situation as I was crying and she snapped at me telling me she didn’t need to know all that and was rude. Already feel lost after receiving no help from the police. Called 911 was told an officer would contact me for help. Nothing happened.
One of my clients reached out to the YWCA and was transferred sooo many times she quit trying! Severe PTSD and in a DC situation.. disappointed
