Terrible Experience with Yu Shirley, OD at Sutter Optometry – Avoid at All Costs! This review is based on a child’s routine eye visit. The office engaged in outrageous over-billing and surprise charges, with absolutely no transparency. Other local practices provide fair, clear, and honest pricing—this one is a nightmare in comparison. Attempts to contact the social care team about the issue were completely ignored. Extremely disappointing and frustrating.
I wish it were possible to give negative stars. Please stay away from Sutter Optometry. This was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. We ended up being charged over $5,000 for eye check that lasted two hours. Before the appointment, we signed a form clearly stating we would owe only $95 out-of-pocket. Instead, we were blindsided with an outrageous bill that our insurance didn’t cover at all. They also refused to apply any cash discount or submit anything to our vision insurance.
