If you’re thinking about sending your child to this facility, I would think again. The experience they provided for me, as well as my daughter, fell WAY short of what I was led to believe would be the reality of her time there. To be fair, my daughter was an unwilling participant in any of her treatment during her 4 month tenure there and was an incredible nuisance, but never once was there any proactivity or outside of the box thinking applied to her course of treatment. Youth Home has the most Caring and Compassionate Employees. I received services in 1993. I've made friendships with some of the staff that has lasted a lifetime. My experience was very positive. I've since giving a speech to the Employees at Youth Home about my experience while there. As well I've spoke to the teenagers that are attending school there. I was there in 2009 & 2010 in houses Sturgis & Hickory. Wish I would of done better than I did the last time I was there I messed up and went to Juvie, then eventually to Alexander DYS and Dermott JCF
I'm looking for a place for my son who's 14 I'm seeing a lot of different reviews on the different treatment and terrified of that. I have seen in other places the staff will antagonize the kid till they reacted or tell kids they won't go home if they keep crying I'm not saying this place has done that this is a real true fear of mine and I just need to know what are the actual staff like what is the food there? does anyone have their teen boys there that can tell me if it's a good safe enviu?
