No bedside manner. Little medical expertise. He barely spoke a few words about the x-ray results. Basically doesn't want to see or talk to patients. AVOID at all costs.
I had a very positive experience with Dr. Kwon and NYU Langone Orthopedic Surgery. Dr. Kwon was attentive and patient during the consultation. Dr. Kwon clearly explained the type of injury (a complete tear) that was detected during his initial exam and the subsequent MRI. Dr. Kwon provided a detailed explanation of the surgery I would need to repair my shoulder and the physical therapy I would need. Dr. Kwon performed the surgery to repair my rotator cuff and biceps tendon. Leading up to the operation and the initial recover... read more
I don't care how good a few people say this guy is. After my consultation, I will not go near him. I certainly don't want an angry doctor inside my body. There are plenty of fine surgeons in New York who are compassionate and attentive. If you associate operational genius with snide, snarky, condescending self-importance, then Kwon is your man. Just don't let him intimidate you.
Ignore reviews about bedside manner. If you have a serious shoulder issue, this is one of the 2 or 3 guys at nyu you want to go (he is in charge of Langone's shoulder fellows). i've found him warm and responsive regarding every question i've had via the portal. I am still in the process of healing froma surgery for multiple shoulder issues, but he was very clear about risks, post operative potential issues etc. Isabella his PT was also very responsive regarding Meds etc.
He couldn’t care less because my condition wouldn’t get him long term business and billing. Very dismissive. Despite my telling him that certain treatments did not work for me, he prescribed the very same. Waste of my time and money.
**BEWARE** He was dismissive, rude and overall the WORSE I've seen at NYU The staff at NYU are more caring then he is!!!
My experience with him was great. He was patient, kind and caring. We did not wind up doing surgery to repair my partially torn rotator cuff -- because he prescribed a course of physical therapy that provided sufficient strength and mobility to render surgery unnecessary. He warned that this approach might not work, or might not provide lasting relief, but was worth a shot I went from being unable to put on a suit jacket without significant pain to becoming completely non-symptomatic. I was in my early 70s when I saw him. I'... read more
doesn't give you a chance to ask questions
Doctor was condescending, dismissive and rude. He spoke down to me and simply walked out of the room when the appointment was finished. Did not say goodbye or anything else. Perhaps my situation wasn't interesting enough for him or he is not happy in his work - would not recommend and am angry about how he treated me
