My experience with Bakhai at ECMC IOP was shockingly cold and dismissive.Over the entire month I was in the program, I spent maybe two minutes total speaking to him. He does what he does best; cold calculations. Psychiatrists are not trained to be warm and empathetic. They are not trained to understand complex social issues within society that contribute to what is called mental illness. They are trained to identify a colonial system of pathology and prescribe medication.
Worst doctor ever. In simplistic terms he abused his ability to care for patients and put things like religion in front of his biases. I can go on but I’d rather not revisit my trauma. Worst time at ECMC. This guy would come on a helicopter just to traumatize people. Yogi they say.
One of the worst experiences I've ever had with a healthcare professional. Yogesh D. Bakhai spoke to me with little regard or understanding for my circumstances of seeking a simple SSRI prescription from him. He was unable to give any comprehensive answers regarding medications or diagnostic tests for mental health. He commented classist and sexist remarks to me, insulting me in the process.
