I was seeing Dr Modi for diabetic retinopathy and eventually stopped seeing him. He was initially pleasant but after several visits with him, he became rude and very condescending. I decided to go elsewhere for treatment where they told me I did not need the level and frequency of treatments that Dr Modi was recommending. I am reading some of the positive comments here and I am guessing that I must have caught him on some bad days because after almost every visit I felt like a child being talked down to.
This doctor is very perfect in every sense of the word, he's just simply awesome.
Dr. Modi has been my 12 year old sons specialist since about Covid-times. He has been so amazing, he gives tough love when you aren't doing what you need to do as a patient and or/ guardian. And yet, is also one of the kindest physicians we've had the pleasure of being treated by. Sad to know he will be leaving NYU Langone Eye Center, hate the thought of my son having to see someone else- but he is really great and we will definitely miss him!
I have seen Dr. Modi 3 times over the last several years to monitor a potential issue in my retina. Each visit consists of pupil dilation (~5 minutes + ~15 minutes to wait for pupils to dilate), a retina scan (~5 minutes) and a quick conversation with the doctor (~5 minutes). Added up - this should be a 30-45 minute visit at most. But I have never spent less than 2 hours and on one occasion spent over 3 hours at Dr. Modi's office. Incredible doctor. Ive been through it all-- allergy, derm, ortho, infectious diseases-- and he was the most knowledgable and caring doctor I have had. Would 10/10 recommend.
