I would not recommend Yarmouth Regional Hospital’s mental health services based on my experiences there. Some of the treatment I received was deeply distressing and, rather than helping me through a mental health crisis, left me with additional trauma and a profound fear of seeking emergency mental health care. I know staff and doctors are very overwhelmed and to boot have impatient, difficult patients to deal with in the ER, to which I bore witness to yesterday, there was no need of this adult acting like a child..he ended up leaving after just a just 1/2 hour of arriving..I had broken my wrist, and it was super busy there, plus two ambulances arrived with ppl that needed immediate care...I understood and was being very patient in waiting, even in as much pain as I was in..i got in within 7 hours,which to me was great! Very slow and only send people out the door with nothing not good at whst they are doing if you have time drive to different hospitals then yarmouth

I wish i could give a 0 review but i have to give least 1 such a long waiting period waiting from noon and still not get chance too see the doctor until after next morning . This is so ridiculous and when asked nurses or whoever's is on the desks in emergency responder rudely. Such a waste of time place and it will make you frustrated.

I give this place one star for its lack of care for patients. My son was put in this hospital because of mental stress and he was under suicide watch. He was a non-smoker. Yet they allowed him to go outside for what he asked for which was a cigarette.. They didn't check him. Little did they know he had a sheet underneath his jacket. He was allowed to go outside without them checking his charts to find out that he was a non-smoker. He went missing and according to police they could not find him right away.
