Home Smart couldn’t fix the refrigerator after many tries, so they offered to give money towards a new one. I sent in the info May 9. They seem to think I am still waiting for parts to an old one. I am having to keep sending receipts for my new one, somehow they can’t find information on sending me a check towards the new refrigerator. I am not sure if there is any point in having them. After more than 40 years of paying premiums, this program has deteriorated to the point that in terms of cost and service, it is a scam. We called on a Saturday during a very hot stretch to ask for AC repair. 3 days later, a company called to say they could come out in a little over 2 weeks. So, 3 weeks without AC. And of course, no service on weekends! When we initially moved in to set up our xcel, the representative on the phone spoke of a home service products as if I would be saving $20 a month not additionally adding this service. She spoke in terms that I did not understand and truly did not know what she was referring to other than the fact I would be saving money for this enrollment not paying more! I'll make it easy for anyone thinking about getting HOMESMART: just don't. If I could give less than 1 star, I would. It's simply a money grab. They charge $60/month for someone to come out and basically just look at the issue for them to ONLY THEN TELL YOU to call someone else. We needed our dishwasher, washing machine, fireplace, and furnace to be checked and repaired throughout the year. EACH TIME someone came out their team member just said to call a plumber, an electrician, or someone who does actual repair/replacement.... read more

This is the absolute worst! I called for a claim to repair my dishwasher. They sent out one of their preferred company techs. He messed around a few minutes and said he couldn’t do anything because the part was no longer available and left. I found the same exact part - serial number and all on Amazon. When I called back Home Smart said they couldn’t do anything so I told them to cancel. The next month I was billed again. Our old GE Range broke down. The tech came out within a couple of days, noted the problem When he went to order the new part he discovered the part was no longer available. We have replacement assistance so requested we receive partial payment towards a new range. We filled out the paperwork and received a check towards the new range a few days later. Very pleased with the service.

An unchecked monopoly operating with impunity, notorious for unabashed price gouging. If there were other options for energy in the area these guys would get left in the dust. Greedy overcharging company that needs to be broken up.

Do not use this service. It's a total rip off, offered by Xcel Energy. I paid $20 extra for a year to have my furnace cleaned or so I thought. It was not explained to me that this is ONLY for inspection of your furnace. I was told this service was for EITHER your furnace or central air conditioner. I don't have central air.. when I called Home Smart they told me service for furnaces was only $9 a month and that the $20 a month was for furnace and air conditioning. I've been paying for this "service" for 9 months now. I had a water heater issue 1/1/2023. I called and was disconnected MULTIPLE times by their automated system. The two calls I put in, one at 9:20am, and once at 3:40pm, they said I had NOTHING covered!!! I have my enrollment proof with the four items I chose for coverage. Apparently my account is screwed up and someone will "call me back" but when? My water heater is leaking... not a good thing!
