The World Eskimo-Indian Olympics (WEIO) presents an annual 4-day event in Fairbanks, AK, beginning every 3rd Wednesday in July through Saturday. Our annual event began in 1961 and continues today to consist of tradition Northern Native athletic games, singing & dancing, arts & crafts and providing a Miss WEIO. This is the most unusual athletic event I have ever witnessed. It also keeps the Native Alaskan culture alive.
I went before and really enjoyed it. Given the chance I'd go again. Enjoyed the events and visiting family and friends.
I have never been able to attend but it is great to watch on here! The seal skinning is my favorite!!
Holding on to traditions and family, this time is a place for all to come and be a part of their Heritage <3
