We walked from our hotel at Dupont Circle all the way to the Hot N Juicy Crawfish restaurant which is across the street from this station. While it was a nice walk over, (DC is a pretty city where we were) it was unfortunately raining after our lunch on the 4th of July, so we headed to this station to catch a ride back to our hotel. Because we had a stroller in tow, we had to utilize the elevator to access the station below. Easy access to the zoo from Metro..
4-24-25 Although there is signage for the zoo, locals informed me that this should be a station where you leave the zoo rather than arrive. This has to do with a downhill walk. They nailed it. Deep escalators, perhaps the deepest I have seen on this line, to take you down to the trains. This is Red Line only.
