First off, I'm a local delivery driver. I've seen how every management company handles their properties and Hornig is consistently the best. Not only do they take the best care, but they're the only company I've seen have their caretaker's name and phone number posted on a large, noticeable sign usually by the mail boxes. I have been at a Hornig property for roughly a half of a year. The quality of the building is good, well-kept and clean. Hardwood floors and a ceiling fan are nice touches. There's a room in the basement just for bicycles. And the price is reasonable. Hornig's treatment of its residents leaves much to be desired. When I applied, I asked to move in and start my rent half-way into the coming month (since my lease at my previous place wasn't up until the end of that month). I have lived at Cottages for 11 years. I had planned to stay a year and to buy a townhouse. Over the years I have not been able to find any place I like as well. The layout and family atmosphere have made it a great place to raise my daughter and it feels more like 'home' than living in a large apartment complex. The huge deck has also been a wonderful additional living space. Jan and Jose have always been pleasant and responsive to any requests or needs. Jan A.
My apartment is unique and very spacious. Most importantly though, even with the awful snow and ice here, the management and the caretakers of this apartment and really great and attentive. They are quick to resolve an issue, answer a question, and make sure that you are taken care of and they always do so with a friendly and positive attitude. I am so grateful for them. The only downside is that, being in Minnesota, the parking lot loves to keep ice for weeks after it has snowed. So watch your step!
I've lived at shadow green apts for over five years and I love it. I initially choose shadow green for the location, close to Minnetonka/Eden prairie, and they had the most competitive rent rates for the area. I immediately took to the quiet, park like atmosphere of shadow green. Happily lived at Shadow Green Apartments in Eden Prairie for almost 3 years. Eden Prairie is a nice community! Moving soon only to lessen the commute to work in St.Paul. Rented apartment in building 14343 with a private entrance and close to the golf course. Very quiet building. Only downside is walking outside to go to the laundry room but it's just a few doors down. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY!! I recently applied to a studio at 3030 Irving, and paid the application fee of $40. I was also asked to turn in a deposit of $6xx for the place, which I did despite not having been approved for the place or signed the lease. I ended up finding a better and cheaper place (which is not hard, considering the places Hornig had) and emailed them was wondering if I could get the deposit back due to not having signed the lease yet. I had insect problems several months after moving in and the bldg on 3520 grand is old and has a crackced foundation in back on garden level.. Mold issues as well. Also has weeds growing into windows and the outside maintenance is not done well, Parking lot was never sanded properly in in winter and , grass is long, trashy place. Paint is always peeliing especially in the 3rd floor. The took several weeks to srpay for pests and 2 months to paint for mold. Emergencies were done quick but maintenance is Horrible! Ohh where do I begin with Hornig Companies? – Is it possible to have 0/5 stars? - To say they are the worst is an understatement. I’ve read other reviews when moving in, and brushed them off as just a couple bad experiences out of tons of residents. I should have known better that these reviews were right.
