I would not recommend Women in Distress based on my experience. Unfortunately, my interactions with this organization have been extremely disappointing and, at times, have added stress to an already difficult domestic violence situation. I worked with an advocate named Nicole (from a location other than the Margate office), and the experience was deeply concerning. My Granddaughter and great granddaughter have been in this center for about 4 1/2 weeks. They have not received any of the services they claim on their website. Now they on sending them back to homelessness. The staff have no compassion for these women and their children. I’m not sure what the purpose of this place. No help, just lies……
I’m sharing this from my own personal experience.. I am currently residing at the dv shelter and have experienced NOTHING but kindness and an eagerness to help from EVERYONE that i have had to come in contact with. They gave me EVERYTHING that i needed and I came in with absolutely NOTHING but the clothes on my back. They don’t help you with anything waste of time I agree with all the comments and the fact I went back to there office and submitted the Bvc documents last Wednesday they did not call me or anything. Lisa was nice in person but changed really fast before our meeting was over. Shell listen to me cry but couldn’t help assist me with my Vawa paperwork and also she ignored information I provided.
