My family and I scheduled a 10am-12pm snow tubing experience at Wisp for today, Monday Jan 18 (MLK day). To say we were disappointed is an understatement. First of all-no one was checking anyones tickets or waivers. Any person could walk right in from the parking lot, grab a tube (self service, no attendants) and get going. Hi there, we are sorry that your tubing experience did not meet your expectations. Our cashiers confirm the age and number of guests on waivers prior to providing any tickets. Two of our mountain hosts were checking tickets at the bottom of the carpets prior to the guests loading. We did run out of ski ties and apologize for this inconvenience. RecommendedWe have been to several ski resorts in the WV/MD/VA area but have to say that Wisp has been our FAVORITE! It's SO nice to have something to call 'ours' in our 'new' home state. We came because they offered Heroes Day, and my husband retired from 24 years of USMC service on January 1-\-\what better way to celebrate? The pandemic has affected this resorts ability to staff the mountain operations causing half of the terrain to close. I'd come back during a normal year on a week day when it isn't crowded. I like some of the terrain a lot in certain places, but unfortunately a lot of green trails funnel skiiers uncomfortably close. Luckily, I noticed people skiing and riding with good manners. We took our grandchildren to the tubing course on Dec. 23, 2020. First the website misrepresented the cost! It has Christmas Day and Christmas Eve highlighted as “premium days”. Premium days were 10.00 more. The 23rd was not highlighted, but the young lady said it was a premium day. They also stated you got to tube in 2 hour increments. Fun, fun, fun at every turn! Can’t be bored at the Wisp! It’s the center of the happenings at the lake!
we had a bumpy start for our vacation until we got to wisp. staff were so kind and helpful and the room was clean and clean. they made sure everything we needed was given and made us feel very safe during this time when covid has dampened so many of our plans.

I was there 25 years ago and it was under construction. I returned this weekend and had the same room, furniture and water stains in the ceiling. They said they did millions of dollars of renovations but I guess that didn’t include the rooms. The room was musty smelling and I had to ask the front desk for Lysol.
