I purchased my first Wimberley product about 4 months ago. It’s the sidekick: The build quality of this head is phenomenal. The fit and finish is exceptional, but more importantly, the functionality of this ‘head’ is the best on the market. I shoot whit a Canon 300 2.8 + 1.4x and Canon 7D on a gitzo cf tripod and a Manfrotto ball head and this setup is very fluido and solid. I’m thoroughly impressed. While I don’t – and probably will never – own a telephoto lens worthy of a Wimberley head, I found them through a search on Amazon FBA, looking for a Gitzo tripod. Coming across a listing for several 1410s, I asked about the condition; the reply (within 24 hours) was: “new in box”. Now, I’ve heard that before and it doesn’t always pan out, but I unboxed the tripod today and it truly was wrapped in the original plastic, with the factory box, instructions, and even the tools packaged with it. I purchased a Wimberley type II head to go with my new 150 to 600 mm Sigma lens. I brought it from Oregon to Costa Rica, it works like a charm. Sturdy, well built, and does the job way better than expected.

I purchased my first Wimberley head about 4 years ago. The build quality of this head is phenomenal. My specialty is photographing birds in flight with the bald eagle as my favorite subject. The freedom of movement and smoothness of this head gives one the ability to stay on a bird with ease. I've been using Wimberley products for over 15 years. They are of the highest quality and the willingness to let their products tried has made them 5 stars without hesitation!
