At 12 years old, I was told I would need braces. I wasn't too jazzed about it or that I had to have a bunch of dental work done beforehand. I knew my teeth were bad but I thought it was a waste of time at first. My parents went with Williams Orthodontics after much research and my braces were eventually put on.
