Earlier this year, I visited this clinic for treatment of a fungal infection. Along with two antifungal medications, I was prescribed hydrocortisone cream. I later learned that topical steroids such as hydrocortisone can worsen fungal infections by suppressing the skin's local immune response. For the entire week I used the cream as directed, I experienced severe pain and itching.
