Nice but not spectacular – This restaurant has been on my "Life List" of places to go for eight years and it unfortunately did not measure up to the anticipation. It is a lovely place with kind people and good food but I expected far more for the press & the price. The prosciutto & fennel appetizer and the roasted mussels course were tasty but uninspiring. My husband's steak and my sole were divinely done but again, not worth the cost considering there was no real 'sides' accompanying them. The waitstaff could also have been... read more
I disagree with the negative reviews – I've got to disagree with the negative reviews about this restaurant. My dad was visiting from NYC and I decided to take him to Wildwood. Both of us thought our meals were outstanding. We both loved the use of all the fresh local ingredients. We were promptly seated, upon arrival (even though we were a tad early). I thought the wait-staff were very professional and attentive. The wine list was amazing, as well. All-in-all, I really found it to be a great experience and I would definitel... read more
service rocks – i came in and sat on the patio on a busy friday night, it was busy so i expected the food to come a little slower, but the waiter was really attentive and always made sure my wine glass was full. the short ribs i had were so tender they melted in my mouth. also the waiter always had a smile and made us feel welcome the whole time we were there.
excellent dinner – Wildwood - the best Portland dinner we have ever experienced. Service was attentive and accomodating; beverages were generous; dinner was timely and satisfying. High recommendation. We're frequent visiting Portland from Canada, and will definitely dine again at Wildwood Restaurant.
disappointment! – We went for brunch on a Sunday, after having visited aprox. 1 year ago and having had a tremendous experience: food, service, ambience were all superlative. Unfortunately I think the restaurant is now trying to pinch pennies, and it shows. Our food was incredibly slow to arrive - this was brunch, not dinner, and the restaurant was less than half full. On the previous visit, we received breakfast rolls while we waited; not the case now (a pecan bun is $3.75....). No bread at all is served with the meal; othe... read more
things that make you go.hmmmm – Thats, hmmmmm? not yummmmmm! I'm not sure about all the hype. We had great service, but so-so food. And with all the choices this city has, I probably won't go back. The wine choices were good, not great. I ordered the Painted Hills steak, which has traditionally been pretty hard to screw up, but this tasted like beef from Safeway, not bad, just not what I was expecting.
Over-rated – All you hear is how great this place is. We were very disappointed. I get the feeling that Wildwood has become to impressed with itself. The night we were there - if you didn't like fenel, there was nothing to eat. I can take using what's in season, but there's more in season in July than fenel! Please! Give us some real creativity here. Over priced, stuffy, unimpressive. The service was fine.
Dissapointed... – I took my girlfriend to Wildwood last night for her birthday. We had a party of 6 and were all let down by the entire experience. It was noisy and chaotic. Our waitress was unattentive. Two of us ordered the "25 for 25" special, only to find out you get smaller portions with this. I had to eat what bread was left on the table after dinner to try and appease my hunger. I noticed there are several reviews in a row expressing my same views. We have had great experinces here in the past, but probably won't go b... read more
Another Negative Review – Wish I had read these reviews before spending $$$ on an enormously disappointing meal. Although the food was quite good, the chaotic atmosphere and terrible service won't bring me back any time soon.
