This WIC office has been amazing to me and my little one. I have been working with the lactation consultant Alyssa for about a month and she has guided me through my breastfeeding journey. I would not be where I am without all of her expertise, her understanding, and her motivation. WIC is so much more to me than the food they provide its having access to wonderful people like Alyssa that have made a difference for me and my little one. I will forever be grateful for her.
I lived in El Monte most of my life and when I found out I was pregnant I still lived there so this is my home WIC office, I live in BP now but I still go to this office since they call me from here. The staff are amazing and caring. They are very friendly and don’t act superior to anyone. I called to ask if they give free diapers/ wipes to mothers in need and the lady that answered had the worst attitude and said "what are you talking about" and I asked again if they give free diapers and wipes and she said "we never give wipes so whoever gave you that information lied. And we sometimes give diapers but we aren't doing that right now"
A few years ago when I had my c-section an employee from wic had lend me a nursing pump and said to pump every hour while I was recovering from my c-section and so I proceed to do exactly that and put it away after pumping, the employee proceeded to come in my room in the hospital and questioned me as if I was lying about pumping and gave me the worst attitude. I had kept it to myself for years cause my whole time at the hospital was a bad experience but I don’t understand giving a new mom a hard time for no reason.
