As a parent, I was very disappointed with Wholesome Kids Catering. While they market themselves as a provider of “wholesome” meals for children, their practices don’t live up to the name. First, they openly state that they provide snacks with the maximum sugar content legally allowed in Canada—that’s 8g of added sugar per 30g, which works out to nearly 30% sugar. Our daycare uses this catering company, and I find the food is very bland — lots of beige rices, pastas, not a lot of flavour and variety for the children. I understand there’s allergies, but I’ve seen other daycares still use a variety of fruits, veggies and exciting meals to make meal times nutritious and interesting for the kids. I’ve also heard the same from other parents. They also serve things like goldfish, and sugared yogurt.

I don’t understand how it is approved by anyone to serve sweet yogurt and cookies to a toddler under 2 years old every other day or even every day. Literally any guideline you read nowadays says 0 sugar until 2yo. If you have an opportunity to go choose with a different daycare that doesn’t use this company, please do. Note that positive reviews are almost exclusively from daycare centers and are probably incentivized
