I used career institute. I would not recommend it. I only owed around 1,700 and they wanted to charge me over 3,000. They report to my credit report but haven't sent me anything so there has been no contact.

Be very careful!!! Run from them. I cancelled after enrolling for just one week and i returned everything they sent me for the first lesson over 7yrs ago. They then turned around to report it on my credit report that i am owing them over $1000 . They report it on my credit report every 6month as something new. They are destiny destroyers and not destiny builders. Please don't sign up or enroll in any course with US career institute!!! RUN!!!

Business response:

USCI values student satisfaction as one of its highest priorities and regret this student was dissatisfied. USCI sent this student two of the five packs of lesson materials and graded the assignments the student submitted. We made 14 attempts to contact the student by phone and letter prior to turning the account over to collections; unfortunately, we did not receive a response from the student. We are happy to work with any student who contacts us concerning their tuition or intent to cancel their enrollment and encourage o... read more

When I called to sign up for the medical billing course they sold me by saying they would help with job placement and thought maybe they might have some leads anything to help but they offee noting not even advice at to where to start. I did this because Im a new mom and wanted to work from home but can not find anything now im paying money for something im not going to use and have to go back to my olf profession witch is not working from home.

Business response:

On June 7, 2017, the student called asking about job placement and was reminded that, as outlined in the school catalog, enrollment agreement and school website, USCI does not offer job placement. All of these items are made available to students before they enroll to ensure they have the information necessary to make an informed decision prior to enrolling. For example, the school's FAQ webpage has the following question and answer: Q. Does U.S. Career Institute provide graduate support? A. U.S. Career Institute Graduate S... read more

I have recently completed the book portion of the Massage Therapy course. This fall I will go and complete the hands on training. I have seen several reviews where former students state that they were not aware of this portion of the course, or that they weren't aware they had to pay for that part of the training. Oddly all of that information is there if they had gone into more detail. It's mentioned in the course outline, and in depth information is included in the FAQ. If they were to include Room & board for that trainin... read more

Business response:

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We appreciate the advice you give to future students, and agree that it is important that they read the materials provided before they enroll to make sure they are aware of the educational services provided. We look forward to your attendance at our hands-on-training. We have amazing instructors who love working with our students!

I, too, was fooled by the smoke and mirrors. I have received no help from At-home professions when preparing for the CPC exam. I, too, am discovering that the real world requires anywhere from 2 to 5 years of office/hospital experience and they don't care if you have passed the state board exam or not. No experience equals no job. At-home professions made it sound like working from home as a coder or biller is a profession that is in high-demand in the medical field. I am finding out this is the exact opposite of what I was ... read more

Terrible place. The education really will not help you. The main problem that I had was with the success promise course. They removed me from the program because the system would not let me submit my assignment and the teacher would not respond to my immediate emails. Then the student services would not help me correct the issue either. They kept saying it was my fault and yet that entire week they were having system issues. They instructor was a joke and would answer my question with more questions and would never answer my... read more

Business response:

The student did receive assistant through our graduate services department. On 11/3/16, a credit of $250 was issued to the student to help pay for a state exam. On 11/4/16, grad services spoke with student regarding upcoming interview. On 11/7/16, grad services helped student prep for interview.

I am currently enrolled in the program for Healthcare Documentation Specialist. I am currently in the final course. I have had a good experience. I feel the program material is instructional, well-organized, and clearly presented. I am concerned that I am learning the required material but maybe am not being adequately prepared for trouble-shooting and handling difficult scenarios that will come up in the real-world profession. Of course, I know that will come with on-the-job experience and this program is designed for entry... read more
