Expensive Service That Ended In A Health Problem I just moved to the area so I was looking for a new place to become my "regular" mani/pedi spot. I had heard some positive things about West Portal so I booked an appointment to check it out. The pedicure I received was subpar and expensive for what they charged- almost $40. The technician was very rough- I had request that she be more gentle twice and she didn't follow directions/requests very well. Mimi is a superstar! I used to go see Mimi for my mani/pedis when she owned a small, dark place on Divis. She now owns this beautiful spa in west portal. They do wonderful mani/pedis. Mimi is also known for her talent for waxing eyebrows to perfection. I have sent all of my girlfriends there and they swear by her too. Pay her a visit. You won't regret it. Not The Best Place for nails or waxing Artificial Nail Appt: I was told by a friend to go here to get my nails done. My nails were done so quickly that they were badly misshapped, the glue did not fully stick to my real nail, real nails cut at different lengths behind the gel nail. When I got to the spa, they told me that all I asked for was a manicure. I explicitly asked for a full gel set with manicure - I phoned even a few days before to confirm my appoint and still they could not get my appoint right - I am really not ha... read more
NEVE EVER GO HERE Although I love this neighborhood, this spa is the WORST place to go. First of all, their prices are WAY TOO overpriced and their service is awful. I have never seen them clean their utensils, and I left the spa when they told me to sit in a spa chair to get a pedicure done IMMEDIATELY after another individual had left, before even cleaning it. I thought that was disgusting and did not want to get any kind of fungus on my feet. I would never EVER recommend this place to go because there are other salons on ... read more
