Staff are amazing but gym and management are among the worst in the city and beyond. Definitely a management problem as they have had no functional air conditioning for years, pool has been closed down and sold off, facilities are poorly updated so broken equipment and no functional machines abound. I feel badly for staff as they clearly want to be able to deliver more for customers. Worth walking a few extra blocks and paying more to get way more. See pictures for typical day at the gym.
I signed up for a class here with Class Pass and liked it so much, I became a full member! Everyone is very welcoming, the front desk staff, the class instructors, and the other gym-goers! There's plenty of space and it's not always crowded. My biggest fear is that everyone will find out how awesome this gym is and it will become crowded! :)
#ConsumerAlert! It's been a year since @WestEndFitNYC said the "Paris" pool would be redone by September. No work has begun but the club takes our $. #Scam Every time you call there is a different manager who denies responsibility for what came before. The Parks Dept offers far better value at its centers. And less expensive homegrown workouts can be found on Bway where you don't join, but pay as you go.
I called the club on Saturday, Dec. 12 to ask about the pool AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WOULD OPEN AT 10AM ON MONDAY. When I called to confirm today, I was told that there are no plans to open the pool. WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?! Downward spiral of service and trust.
I live in the neighborhood and was a member on and off for 30 years - used to love it. But the last few years its gotten worse and worse. Things break, management rude, pool abruptly closed with no seeming intention to do the reconstruction work. And now they are raising their rates!
The swimming pool is closed, and we long- time members were given 24 hours notice on March 31 that we had the choice to continue membership by paying the full fee or pay a $10 "freeze fee". Some of us only use the pool. The owners dropped this pool closure on us even though they must have known and planned for the renovation. No courtesy, no understanding, no waiving of the $10 for those of us who only use the pool, and no waiving of initiation fee if we wish to rejoin after the pool is fixed.
