We were interested in moving to ***********, out of ******* and loved the community, **************************, by Weidner Apartment Homes. We toured the community and decided on an apartment in the newer building, ready for move-in at the end of June. We selected a unit, had it transferred in our name per the leasing agent who also sent us an application via email. We applied online immediately. This is about the ****** apartment homes I moved in just over a year ago as the rent was fair at the time. I recently purchased a home so it was time to move out. I was worried as the management that inspected my place and ensured me as long as I maintained my apartment I would receive my deposit back had changed to different people with little experience in the positions. The following is concerning the Capitol Towers apartment complex managed by Weidner in **********************. 1: Cockroaches: The building has been infested for months. Some residents have been sprayed half a dozen times and others not at all. A spray of the entire building should have been conducted but never was, likely in an effort on Weidner's part to save cost. Upon move-out of my short-term, 3-month lease I was charged for professional cleaning services (not in the lease) and painting. Nothing had been hung on the walls or damaged. When I reached out to the office they told me the apartment had to be professionally cleaned "because of COVID" but could not provide me anything in the lease to support that, nor could they provide me any proof that painting or cleaning were necessary. Upon move-out I was charged for cleaning services that were not required even after notifying management that i would have my own cleaning service perform the work. I was the first tenant to live in this particular unit and when I moved out, it's condition matched that of when i moved in. My inquiry as to why I was charged for unneeded and unrequested cleaning services was ignored for almost a month even after repeated attempts. I lived at Forest Hills Estates for two years. I had no problems while living there. When I moved in the carpets were in poor shape and I was told I would be the last resident to have them. In order for me to comfortably use the living room it was necessary to me to purchase a large area rug to cover the stains and to avoid smelling, what I can only describe as, old pet odor.
