Join the Co-op It's more than just a store - it's a community. This small co-op in the heart of Mount Airy features organic and conventional produce, fresh baked goods, boxed meals, a second floor with health and beauty products and cleaning supplies, fair trade coffee, and so much more. True, the variety isn't what you'd find at Whole Foods, but the prices are so much better and the atmosphere so non-corporate. Members-owned food co-op has been a Mount Airy mainstay since the '70s. – In Short Members pitch in six hours annually here at this crunchy Northwest neighborhood food store featuring locally grown, organic and small-purveyor fare. Extensive cheese and specialty foods sections are ideal stops when hosting an impromptu party. Costs are lower than traditional stores due to the communal effort, but the real deal is in knowing where your food comes from and participating in community.
