Originally opened as the Johan Armleder Wine and Lager Beer Saloon in 1860, the Washington Platform Saloon & Restaurant is a downtown institution. Though the saloon faced tough times during Prohibition and had to close down, it was later revived in 1986 as a place for locals to socialize over traditional American fare and cold pints. Washington Platform Saloon has great atmosphere This is actually a fun little place... I've really enjoyed the atmosphere, different from your usual downtown options. I haven't personally tried the oysters that they are renowned for, but I hear from others that they're the best in Cincinnati.
