I had to go to the ED at Washington Hospital yesterday due to an issue I was having. Great, worderful, caring staff, nurses, and doctors. Problem solved quickly.
DO NOT COME HERE. Completely unsanitary, chaotic, and degrading. They hold you up for hours and treat you like a sack of garbage instead of a sick human being. There was constant yelling and fighting between nurses and patients—it felt more like a disorderly holding facility than a hospital. I arrived by ambulance in severe pain and was eventually diagnosed with COVID, yet they left me in a room without showing me a call button and barely communicated with me. I delivered my first child here in June. While the doctors and nurses were very kind, the department was severely understaffed. After I started pushing, I had to stop and wait two hours for the OB because she had to attend a scheduled C-section. Ultimately, my baby had to be delivered using a vacuum after 4.5 hours of active labor. This hospital is defrauding their customers who don't know better. I came in for a foot laceration requiring 6 stitches, no further testing was necessary and it was obvious to everyone I just needed stitches. They originally billed me as a level 2 examination (simple matters) and half a year letter decided to upcode me to a level 4 examination (high risk or requiring complex evaluation), which obviously is not the case for a simple foot a lac. I had the opportunity to visit Washington Hospital with a friend while visiting his mom, and I was genuinely impressed. From the front desk and security staff to the nurses and doctors, everyone was kind, professional, and caring. My friend's mom also spoke very highly of the care she received, and we're grateful she made a quick recovery. It's reassuring to see a hospital with such compassionate and dedicated staff.
