cozy place – i like coming here during the week, it's not crowded, you can sit on the couch and have some intimate conversation. drinks reasonably priced, there is bocce also. i've always found staff to be friendly and accomodating as well. the crowd on the weekends can be a bit obnoxious, and it gets super crowded. i do really recommend this place, it has something for everyone, so long as you can tolerate the crowds on the weekends.

this place needs an attitude check. – if you expect to go to a bar and be treated like a human being... i would suggest you avoid this place at all costs. being ejected from a bar because you're starting drunken brawls with the other patrons.. fair. being ejected from a bar because someone has apparently decided you had too much to drink, although you're sitting quietly in the back having a conversation with your friends... wtf? look, mr. union hall, if you got upset because i decided to explore a bit and find out what was g... read more

Great! Except on... – If you want to like this place, DO NOT GO on Friday and Saturday nights. That's when it gets obnoxious, full of drunken frat boys and airhead girls. Go during the week or during the day on the weekends and it's AWESOME. You can go with a date and sit in a dark corner and drink some wine. Or go with a group of friends, get a pitcher of beer and play bocce. Or, go downstairs and watch a great music show or comedy show. This place has everything. Including food! (ok, not that great, but the sliders are pre... read more

Great place to enjoy a concert – I went to Union Hall for the first time last week to see Jim White and had a wonderful time, Though I'm way over 30, I didn't feel unwelcome, though of course, I was in the minority. The place is beautiful and clean, including the bathrooms. (Though I found the unisex idea a little jarring.) It also has a very tasty jukebox. The basement has a really nice vibe and terrific sound. The fair prices for both tickets and drinks were much appreciated. It seemed to attract real music fans. Easy to g... read more

I'm not even 30... – ... but this place makes me feel OLD!!! Crowded with the fresh-out-of-college kids at the weekend, but more chilled out (and *ahem* "age-appropriate") during the week. A library and an inside bocci lawn are the main draw; drinks aren't very strong, but reasonably priced.

Great Live Music Venue – If you like to see bands at smaller venues before they get their big break then the downstairs at Union Hall is great place to see live music! The only negative is the pole that gets in your way if you stand to the left of the stage, but just stand to the right to avoid. It also has a very interesting upstairs that I have never spent too much time in. With Bocce ball, good beer and a friendly staff, I may have my next party there!

lame – most pretentious joint ever (or certainly in the slope). staff is rude, though the bartender is an all right guy i guess. crowd thinks it's better than you, all wannabe hipsters but really just frat boys who never got over it. if you have to play boccie go to floyd on atlantic, it's way better (same owner; see guy? it's not you, it's your one stupid bar). anyway skip this dump

Upstairs is hard to take! – The upstairs is a hustle bustle of lawn sports activities and 21-year-old brooklyn frat boys in sweatpants. Why not use the downstairs as a place for a different vibe, as well as live shows? People should be able to go downstairs, listen to better music, maybe watch a football game. Something? The upstairs is unbearable now! Throw the neighborhood a bone!
