freshest produce in town Wards has the best selection and freshest produce in town. They also have a nice selection of inexpensive wines. Wards is fairly priced. Recommend it to anyone!
Nice local store This family operation has a nice variety of meats and produce. They also carry a good selection of organics if you like those. Its a nice place to shop and they offer some great deals. Their prices are very competative to the big chains.
Ward's supermarket Ward's supermarket is a home owned business. So they know what customer needs. I visit them weekly. They provide fresh produce and grocery in gainesville. The price is very good and the goods are very fresh. They also sell sprout of vegetables, followers, etc. I'm very satisfied with the vegetables they sell. For the healthy eater!!! Locally produced and organic grown vegetables and fruits are Ward's distinctive feature. The prices are very reasonable, and the restaurant is an alternative to regional stores like Winn Dixie and Publix. Try the fresh spices section, where you can buy spices for half the price you would pay for the packaged ones at regular supermarkets
local products Great little market for fresh produce when you can't make it to the downtown market. They purchase their products from local growers, even their honey is made locally! They have a good selection of fresh fish and meat, which is typically on sale. Wards also has a wide selection of spices. They are super cheap. I actually refill my old bottles of spices with their spices.
Local Foods I have been shopping at Wards for years and love it. Unfortunatley I have noticed lately that they are selling produce from China. (Garlic, Ginger) Also be aware that food that is labeled "Organic" and comes from China is probably really not organic as there is no types of inspection that take place. Some items may read "California" in the front, but when you read the fine print in the back it may say China. The small store is a wonder of healthy, organic and specialty foods. The produce is fresh and fairly priced. You can find those health juices and dairy products you may not find at the big stores too. wards I've been a ward's shopper for 30+ years. I think it's one of the best stores in town. The meat and veggies are always great.
Ward's Supermarket Ward's is the best for fresh veggies, fruits, seafood, and meats...and and dam near everything else. Plus they have the cheapest prices. Forget Publix supermarket, once you go to Wards, you'll avoid Publixs like a plauge. I should also add that Wards have a great selection of beer, wine, and organic foods. There aint too much left in Gainesville that isnt a pretentious chain store type place with no feeling or atmostphere and very high prices, but Wards is WORLD CLASS ALL THE WAY.
