I’ve had a cough since October and my doctor sent me to the allergist since I was scared I might be allergic to my new dog. (I’m not)The allergist’s office is at the hospital. I got the bill last night. $4469 half of which was applied to my deductible and I’m responsible. Here the kicker..The doctors visit was paid except my copay—$469. The nurses were really nice but the doctor I saw was not knowledgable about my allergy. I have always had a nickel allergy. I needed to have a panel test to prove it because my concerns were being ignored by my medical team. My doctor did not go over my medical history with me during my appointment. She told me that she had already looked it over. She repetitively made comments about "if" my test came back positive like it wasn't going to be positive. Had a really not great experience, will not go back
I made an appointment specifically for a food allergy panel due to ongoing GI issues. I waited 3 months for the appointment (because they rescheduled my initial appointment), only to get there and be informed that they don't believe in food allergy panels. And that it isn't considered a true allergy unless you go into anaphylaxis. They drew blood for environmental allergies, but refused to run a panel for foods.
