Good stuff – fresh ingredients. tasty stuff. I always like to try at least one dish that's unfamiliar and this place seems to be have pretty consistent good food.

Awesome Upscale Vietnamese Restaurant – I owed Vung Tau a good review. I have dined here on multiple occasions and had wonderful experience every time. Yet, I never get a chance to write a review this place for some strange reasons. Food was delicious. Service was attentive. Ambiance was welcoming. All these combined with the posh decor and spacious dining room and you have a real winner. I could devour all the dishes here in no time. Not everything on the menu were created equal though. Most dishes were delicious but there ... read more

Consistently good Vietnamese food, although pricier – Vung Tau (we prefer the Milpitas location) has been our favorite Vietnamese restaurant since the mid 90's. Their dishes have gotten pricier since they've renovated their other San Jose location which is why we don't go as often. However, if you have the budget to spring for the highest priced tamarind shrimp which is in the mid-20 dollar range, you will definitely impress. The ambiance is basic functional cafeteria, and the service is lackluster, but the food is always co... read more

The best Vietnamese food in the Bay Area – I've been to many upscale Vietnamese restaurants in the Bay Area--Le Cheval, Slanted Door, Le Coloniel, Tamarine, Three Seasons--but Vung Tau tops them all. First, their menu is a great value and you can easily feed four for well under $100. I also love them because the food is spot-on authentic vietnamese. You won't see any fancy fusion dishes on the menu, just plain and simple, traditional Vietnamese food that's fresh and jumping with flavor. My favorites are the Canh Chua and Bo ... read more

I always come here for the great seafood. I have never been disappointed. Try the crab with the tamarind. It's out of this world.

My favorite Vietnamese restaurant – I have been going here since I was about 9 and I still like this place. The rice plates are the best. I also recommend the noodles with grilled meat. This restaurant has the best eggrolls too. Since they renovated, I like going here even more!

good food but expensive – I liked the food there but I didn't find any waiters friendly. And price is expensive.

best vietnamese restaurant in san jose – I've been to countless Vietnamese restaurants and I have to say that this one is the best. They recently renovated the exterior/interior of the restaurant and now the dining experience is better than ever. They have a different type of eggroll, which most Vietnamese restaurants don't serve. I like the noodle soups, noodle salads, rice plates, and pretty much most of the food there.
