Great for Lumber I needed lumber to build a treehouse for my children. So I went to VonTobel Lumber and Hardware. They staff was very helpful and very nice. The store was clean and organized. The layered out of the store for picking out the lumber was great. I could find it great. The staff cut certain pieces for me. The were great. The prices were great too.
Aggressive Lienor If you want to avoid lien issues, be very careful of Von Tobels. They will use liens as a weapon to get paid. Look into a no-lien project by using the recorder before dealing with Von Tobels. Before you use them as a supplier, get their lien policies in writing first. You will be happy you did.
Wood stove install--Poorly done Very disappointed with wood stove and installation from Von Tobel's Lafayette. Install above roof did not look professional and leaked the first night. They returned and changed install and stopped the leak (only cost another $250). Stove pipe was scratched and they gave me a can of paint and left it up to me to fix. $4,000 for stove and install. And top of the Napolean stove paint comes off with a wet paper towel...broke in IAW their manual and probably used a total of 15 times last winter. T... read more

Lumber and Hardware Von Tobel's isn't a national chain of hardware stores so their prices are a tad higher than some of the nationals. But, their selection is good and you get individual service. The place is not much on decor and can be a little junky-looking at times but sift through it all and you've got a reputable business that will go out of their way to help you find what you need.
