The building that houses Volunteer Park Cafe dates back over 100 years and has always been a cornerstone of this North Capitol Hill neighborhood. It was a grocery and meat market in the early1900s, and one of the neighbors was known to load up his horse-drawn wagon with the store's fresh produce and sell it throughout the community. I've been coming here for years. The people are genuine, down to earth, and sweet. I love coming here not only for the great coffee roasts and delicious breakfast fare but the overall experience that leaves you feeling like you visited grandma's house during the holidays. Love love love!

I love this place. Fresh, tasty ingredients and friendly staff.
I like a coffee shop. I especially like a coffee shop with big store front windows, lots of energy, decent music and an interesting clientele. The quality of the coffee – individually prepared drip coffee – is a bonus but there are a lot of places in Seattle to get a decent cup of Joe. The Volunteer Park Café is my go to place when in Seattle. I want to give Volunteer Park Cafe 4 stars, but unfortunately I can't! I had brunch there earlier this week and the coffee was not good. In fact, it was awful (sour). I was soooo disappointed because I am a huge coffee person and was looking forward to having a great cup with my meal (quiche). It has to be a whole package deal! Please, please.....if you're going to serve fresh ingredients in meals, serve fresh coffee!
Love the food; love the ambiance & community feeling. I try to eat breakfast at VPC each time I visit Seattle.
