I went in for an initial patient cleaning appointment. I know I have a zero copay. I was told it’d be 40 dollars. I had to spend time to investigate my benefits and ask them to double check. I was then told it would be zero but the fluoride service would be 40 dollars. A service I never requested. As a new patient, I hate the constant ask of upcharge services I never requested. Was quoted 120 dollars for a procedure, which I was told was 240 dollars when I got there. This is a procedure I was required to do twice this month to be effective. Needless to say, an additional expense of 240 dollars this month, which I could not plan for or forsee, are frustrating and could be devastating to many. Having to pay 480 dollars over two weeks, without knowing beforehand to be able to plan for it is a lot, but being told to expect having to only pay 240 instead is unacceptable.
