Unless you want to be hounded relentlessly and forever, do not donate blood through Vitalant. I get multiple calls and text messages a week from these guys. I will never donate through Vitalant again.
I was recently contacted by Vitalant and asked to donate blood. In response, I made arrangements to take time away from my job and drove approximately 20 minutes to the designated donation site. Upon arrival, I was surprised to learn that donations were being conducted inside a mobile unit. Given that this is Arizona and we are currently experiencing extreme summer temperatures, often reaching levels that result in heat advisories, this setup raised immediate concerns. Great place to work and donate blood!
My experience with Vitalant has been horrible. I needed to get a therapeutic phlebotomy blood draw because I’m on medications that don’t allow for donation. First, i went to the scottsdale location and was turned away because my form was not. The most current form. I was frustrated and was laughed at my one of the workers. If i were donating blood I would have understood, but they were drawing my blood adding hardener and disposing of it. When I donate (platelets) it is usually at a different location of Vitalant (FORMERLY called "United Blood Services Arizona") ... namely, [it is usually at] the Glendale location of Vitalant.
