First time donating and it was for Iron Lung! The ladies were very nice and explained each process. For women you need a 12.5 or higher in iron so eat iron rich food beforehand. My right arm couldn’t be drawn so we switched to my left. Just let them know which arm you do more for bloodwork. They have a variety of snacks and juice and water. You’ll also get to know your blood type after 72hrs on the app.

I had a good experience during my first platelets donation today. The staff was kind and very caring (Isabella, Karen and another phlebotomist that I didn’t get her name). I will definitely be back for future donations.

Not quite sure others have had issues here. I called the main number on the website to talk with someone prior to explain a situation I had with another blood donation center (not Vitalant) and they had no problem explaining their process. I made an appointment online and when I arrived the only problem I had was making sure I went in the right building. Upon arrival, everyone was courteous and verified all my information and vitals. I had an appointment for noon on 11/26. When I arrived 5 minutes early there was a line outside of the locked door. When they finally opened the door a few minutes AFTER noon, there was no apology or greeting, just “who is first?” When I asked if they go by appointment times I was told whoever was first would be registered first. So what’s the purpose of making an appointment?
