If you're looking for a space to practice your instrumentation then that's fine, but to call it a recording studio is a stretch. The only real liable recording studio in that building is Soul Asylum.. I moved around in a few of their rooms but each time I had to combat the surrounding noise which was very bad for recording.
We want to share our experience to caution other professionals and creatives of color before booking space at Vision Studios. Despite offering to pay several months of rent upfront, we were denied the opportunity to rent a room. The reasoning given? That our team — a group of Black entrepreneurs — was “not a good fit,” while others with questionable backgrounds were considered more acceptable tenants.
