RecommendedThe best value for money wine shop in San Diego. Very knowledgeable staff. Always helpful to beginners and connoisseurs alike. And the Saturday Wine Tastings and the Wine "bar" are both great, and inexpensive, ways to learn about the world of wine. I've been going there since the late 1980s and highly recommend you go as well.
Been coming here since 1988---back when it was a small shop in the back of the building. Great selection-excellent pricing-and friendly,knowledgable customer service keep me coming back for the last 29 years. John, terry, and Terry know their stuff.
If you have wine in your shop, you're expected to know about it, taste it, and check continually on its condition. I purchased 5 wines from this place while traveling on business and studying for my sommelier exam in June and 2 of them were corked! Not a little taint; to the max, tbc/tbs. they're undrinkable and taste like what you'd expect at a bar that keeps a bottle by the trash can. Unexceptionable. This is a wonderful shop with a great selection of quality wines and a well-informed, friendly staff. Plus, the wine tastings on Saturdays are affordable, fun, and a good way to expand your knowledge of wine. Nobody seems to mind that I usually bring along a little bread and cheese to enjoy and to share. Quiet afternoon tastings at Vintage Wines are one of the true joys of living in San Diego.

This is a unique and amazing place, John and José always very kind, they have the best wines around San Diego, i love saturdays wine tatsting!!! I highly recommend this place, best time to go 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm!!!!! Enjoy
