My husband and I just returned from a short break at the Vinoy. The hotel is ideally situated in a beautiful waterfront setting at St Petersburg with access to some great bars and restaurants as well as overlooking the attractive Marina. We found all the staff so helpful especially Joanne, the Navigator based in the lobby. Please thank her for doing a great job in taking care of us. My husband and I stayed there last night and had a terrible experience. We had to wait 2.5 hours for our room to be clean, the staff was extremely rude, the bartender stood behind the bar eating the martini olives in front of us and there was a huge bug in our room. The manager said she would take $30 off of our bill to "make up for everything" but of course when the bill came this morning, there was no discount. It was our first and last visit to this hotel. Very disappointing!
I have been lucky enough to stay at the Vinoy for work-related conferences for the past five years. It was love at first sight! Such grandeur and charm, plus the staff is outstanding. I look forward to my visit every year and wouldn't change one thing. The Marriott chain should consider it a privilege to call it one of their own. Do yourself the experience of a stay.
We stay at the Vinoy every year and it's always a great experience. We love the history of this place and our kids love hanging out on the front porch and spending time at the pool!
