To make a very long story short I had a check engine light issue for 3 months, I took my car to multiple different shops and dealerships just for the to the light to keep coming on with the same issue and learning that they never truly fixed anything just charged me crazy amounts of money that left me with shallow pockets and more damage to my vehicle. My MINI cooper stick shifter wouldn’t move out of Park due to a bad shift interlock. It’s supposed to unlock when the brake is depressed so you can move it out of park and into gear. I was taking the cover off the shift stick and manually unlock it to shift it to drive alto get it moving. I took it to the local MINI dealer and they recommended changing out the entire assembly and the interlock.
