The Village Bakery I have lived in Tyler,TX most of my 46 yrs. and Village Bakery is a place we have enjoyed since childhood.I had to have a ginger bread cookie whenever my mom would take me. For special occasions her cakes are amazing both in presentation and melt in your mouth. My favorite changes with the seasons... summer favorite has to be strawberry cake, for fall I crave Italian cream cake, Springtime calls for her Easter egg petifores and for the holidays the rolls and chocolate cake with fudge icing are to die for!!... read more
I have been a visitor to the Village Bakery for over twenty years. When my children were young a quick stop for gingerbread men or women or cookies was a must. My dinner guest enjoyed the most delicious desserts that a forty mile drive from Athens could afford. And when my daughter decided to marry, she chose to use the Village Bakery for her wedding cake. How tasty their cakes and pastries are – I went at Village Bakery with my husband for a cake tasting, it was awesome. I also ordered a birthday cake for my five year old son.
Wedding Cake at the Cascades My daughter's wedding was May 7,2011 in Tyler and she picked Village Bakery to do her cake and also the grooms cake. The cake was very important to her and was the focal point of the reception entrance. She met several times with Bettie to go over ideas and perfect her expectations. Awesome Cakes My wife and I ordered our wedding cakes from the Village Bakery and we were very pleased with them. They were very tasty and very well decorated. When we talked to Bettie about what we wanted she was very helpful and made the whole experience painless. Several months later we ordered a Blues Clues birthday cake for our sons 3rd birthday party, and it was awesome. Frustrating and inconsiderate, wrong wedding cake I recently got married in Tyler, Texas. We had a large wedding with 300+ people and were very pleased with many of our Tyler vendors. However, every interaction we had with Village Bakery was miserable. While tasting cakes, I had not been pleased with the customer service, but I choose to go forward with them because the cake tasted wonderful. It was not worth it. What a joke! I read David's review about how he is in charge of the front counter now. Well if things are better I would hate to see how they were before! They messed up our order and overcharged us. No time to order anywhere else. The rude personell has the "Take It Or Leave It Attitude". Please beware of the Village Bakery getting your cakes as you order them. Hey but how about we overcharge you $50.00 and give you a free Cupcake next time you come in?
Don't recommend the wedding cakes My husband and I went for a cake tasting and ordered a wedding cake for 300+ people. We decided on strawberry because it was so wonderful. When we cut into the cake at the wedding reception it was italian cream. I do not eat coconut...I was mortified . Can you image the look on my face in all the pictures?? This cake was over $1,000 and you would think the kind of cake would be correct. We were issued a partial refund.
