My husband and I have been at the Vi at La Jolla Village for a year and a half. For the last 8 months my husband has had to be in Skilled Nursing at the Care Center. The quality of his care has been exceptional. The staff in the Care Center have been kind, caring, attentive and professional. They are taking excellent care of him. Kedra Markie, Social Services Manager, was unorganized, rude, and intolerant, and she upset my mother while she is recovering from bypass surgery. Her behavior was completely unprofessional and deeply distressing, especially given that my mother’s care and recovery are in their hands. This experience was extremely upsetting and unacceptable.
Did you know moving into one of these facilities, you will lose all your agency to make decisions? When you enter this independent living, you agree that the Vi in their reasonable discretion can change your level of care. Therefore, you can lose your apartment when they say so. The executive director bullied my mother and put her in such fear and kept telling her she wants the apartment. Vi at La Jolla Village has been my home for 15 years. Every day of those 10 years I have been grateful that I chose to live here Not only do I live in beautiful surroundings, I live conveniently located to everything that is important to me including medical facilities, shopping, and entertainment. We have a caring staff who go out of their way to be helpful.
