Our bed and breakfast was built in 1897, by J.A. Decker, a wealthy lumber baron and banker. This 30 room, 10 bedroom home has been carefully preserved to keep many of the original features of this historic Queen Ann Victorian style home, such as the large wrap-around porch, cut double glass entry, unique cherry and oak woodwork, and stained glass windows. This gorgeous Victorian home felt like stepping magically back to an earlier time. Staying on the third floor meant being able to wind through the whole house on the way to our room. The furnishings are period, with claw foot chairs and a grand piano. The keepers of the place were EXTRAORDINARILY kind and helpful. They pulled out an extension cord so we could charge our vehicle. And when we left our car’s window open that night, and they couldn’t get a hold of us over our phones, they covered the window with a blanket and ga... read more
