I went to the Verizon store on Tiffin Ave to trade in my XR. I was greeted by a young salesman who asked what I was looking for. I told him I was eligible for a trade in. He asked if I’d like the best out there. I told him the cheapest option. He led me to the iPhone 17, told me my XR was worthless, then said he had a much better deal that would make our family plan decrease by $8/month. Bought a new iPhone on Black Friday. The salesman that handled at my account said that I would be eligible for roughly ~$800 discount on a new phone. Out the door price of about ~$200 so I went ahead and bought the thing. Only to be billed $1,000 later for the phone and with zero help from VERIZON customer service because the discounts came with additional purchases (TV plan, internet, or iPad) which I was never offered or informed of.
