I don't knw what has happened to Vel's. The food used to be so good here. Yesterday was definately our last trip to Vel's. The food was awful. The clams were not fresh and had a very sour taste to them. They overcharged us. We had 2 beers and they charged us for three. I told the waitress about it and she came back and said the manager said to "just give them their check". I stumbled upon Vel's several yrs ago when heading to a nearby movie w/ some friends. Everyone wanted to go to a nearby "chain" restaurant, but the wait was over an hr and we would have missed the movie. We ended up at Vel's and it was delicious. I am absolutely in love with their baked stuffed haddock with newburg sauce. It's now a mother's day tradition for my entire family to go to Vel's.
