My husband and I had our state taxes garnished in 2014 they took the whole amount and would not give us a receipt they said it was for medical but they would say who We are getting a state refund this year and now they are garnishing our st taxes again every year since 2014 this has been going on. What can we do to stop t his we have paid our bills
I would say 0 if I could. They handed me a medical debt summons at my door. Then gave me 21 days to submit an offer (monthly financial statement) or pay the full amount or a default judgement would be placed against me. I gave them an offer and they took TWO weeks to review just to deny it. That was 14 out of my 21 days already. They denied it without reason or a counter offer. They hang up on you, won't let you speak to a supervisor and I'm just trying to resolve my account. I have never had such a headache making payments
How this "business" has an A+ rating from the BBB is beyond me. They are not a business nor a legit law office. They're debt collectors. They no doubt bought my debt from the bank which I owed money to for pennies on the dollar but came at me with the same amount owed on the original debt, were unwilling to negotiate the debt down, and continuously tacked on more and more legal fees the longer I had to wait to come up with the money. This company, VELO, may be a scam! They showed up on my credit report, along with duplicate accounts no less, and are claiming I owe them for condominium association fees. I do NOT! I pay the condominium association fees directly to them each month upon receiving their invoice. I'm afraid to pay VELO because I've not only have never been told to pay them, instead of my association...I've never received an invoice or anything for that matter from VELO. Is this a scam? Beware they will try to get you to not respond to a summons so they can get a default judgement against you and tack on a bunch of other charges. They lie and will never send you information you request. They won't even send you a receipt when you pay them. They ask you to send personal information in email that you should NEVER put in an unsecure email. They are rude. Horrible company.
I called and spoke to a woman on April 1st about a garnishment that was taken right out of my account and then days later got the papers in the mail about the garnishment. I asked her to send me a form to fill out to make payments and she said I would get it in a week. It has now been a month and I still do not have the form. I am currently working with a lawyer because my debt owed keeps rising and Velo will NOT give me any information on why... so now my lawyer is getting it :) The people you speak with when you call Velo Law office are rude and unprofessional not to mention UNEDUCATED! it's sad that a law office would hire such people to represent them. When I call to find out how much debt I owe you would think someone would tell you that. It's like its everyone's first day there!
I contacted them about a garnishment and because the paperwork was sent to me without an amount so i got a receipt from my work which showed how muh had been paid and the balance remaining of course when I called VELO they had a different amount which was more and I asked why was it so much more, the representative kept saying i could submit a letter in writing requesting a disput and other info, so i asked can't I come to the office, she said "we don't have an office" and I said of course you don't.
