Let me be clear the 3 stars is strictly based off the professionalism and genuine kindness from the Vet Techs as well as being accepted for the emergency visit when turned away by 2 other offices. If it wasn't for that this would be a 2 star review. I took my dog in for an emergency visit and after hours was finally seen by the vet. After no testing and only a physical exam, my dog was given a diagnosis that I was told she would begin to recover from in 24-48hrs and fully recover in 2-4 weeks. Some time ago I had to bring my puppy to VCA Animal Care Center of Sonoma County after noticing she was limping. We just lost our previous dog to IVDD not that long ago, so we were extremely anxious and wanted to get her checked out right away. We chose this hospital because we live nearby. My husband arrived first because he was working close by, and later I came with our puppy. He told me that he was the first in line, but when I came, we still had to wait over an hour because all the doctors were busy. Which is completely... read more

If you need true emergency care and this is your only option, then by all means take your pet here. But proceed with caution. Everything is billed à la carte, and nothing is done without upfront payment. In our experience, the staff moved very slowly despite charging top “emergency” prices. What should have been a one- to two-hour visit stretched into four. Simple treatments were skipped in favor of more expensive—and in my opinion, unnecessary—options. I know there are mixed reviews on VCA. I would like to acknowledge VCA RP for their compassion and empathy last year when my 12year old GSD had a life threatening emergency in which we had to say goodbye. The staff was incredible and assisted with the arrangements associated within the difficult decision. Additionally, we see Dr. Mehra (Neuro) for our younger GSD who developed seizures 6months after his brothers passing.
